THE YES MEN FIX THE WORLD

...well, i think it'll take more than a couple comedic semi-geniuses to fix the world but i think these guys got a good thing going and maybe more people will catch on, but as pointed out in our discussion tonight it'll make those of us who are aware even more aware now and even more upset at the ignorant ones who think everything is ok.....someone said tonight "Why can't America be a world LEADER instead of a world POWER?" something to think about....maybe its cause we cant make as much money that way? ah the joys of a capitalist democracy, or whatever you wanna call it.....maybe i've had a few too many tonight and maybe im just tired of lookin the other way knowing there's really not much bite to my bark these days.....oh well, who know what tomorrow may bring...but untill we find out enjoy this preview

World's Largest "Piece" is finally buffed

Many of you in the graff world are familiar with "Saber" a Cali based graff artist. He's the guy who painted the huge mural on the LA River.

well, the greater LosAngeles area thought it would be a good idea to spend a LOT of money to "fix" this problem

way to go LA, time and money well spent

and so you know, this mural took over 125 gallons of paint! it was over 250 feet long and 55 feet tall..........maybe they're just clearin a spot for the next world record piece!

but considering LA has been on the news lately for cutting into school budgets, not buying new books for the students, firing teachers, and over crowding their class rooms, but they have money to do something like this......glad to see their priorities are in line

My Bio?

this is what came of a brief interview.......

To describe Mark Zee’s body of work would be akin to attempting to sum up the dictionary in five words or less. A life-long student of the arts, Zee began as soon as he could grasp his first Jumbo Crayola. Arriving on planet Earth in 1974 in his home-made spacecraft, the infant Zee absorbed everything he saw around him at his Earthling parent’s flower shop. Starved for knowledge, he unblinkingly stared straight ahead at his 10” black and white TV, captivated by Zorro, the Wolfman, Flash Gordon, kung-fu flicks and an excess of Saturday morning cartoons. At the age of 9, while watching public broadcasting, young Zee’s life is changed forever after seeing the graffiti documentary “Style Wars”. Arming himself with a black marker and a home-made Zorro mask, Zee proceeded to leave his “mark” on every possible surface. After years of practice, the marker and spray can had become extensions of his arms, allowing Zee’s creativity and positive message (namely, don’t pay for art school) to be seen by the world.

Influenced heavily by punk rock, underground hip-hop and modern cinema, Zee has transformed his roots in street art and graffiti into something unique and original. The following collection of works from Zee are being debut here at Treat. The inspiration for these pieces came from his obsession with drawing and designing the letter “Z” of all things. The letters soon became bubbly creatures and took on a life all their own, and those soon evolved into what you see before you today. These mixed media works are a concoction of wheat pasting, punk rock flyers, aerosol paints, stencils and a very shaky yet somewhat steady hand inking the outlines.
